Mrs Howard lives in a privately rented detached house along with her husband and son, with the house having an open fire as the only source of heating. Having endured one of the coldest winters she can remember, on 1st March she contacted the Warm Homes Scheme to see if she would be eligible for any measures that could help her provide a warmer and more energy efficient home for her family to live in.
On the 13th April a Warm Homes surveyor called to the house to undertake a survey of the dwelling and at that time was able to confirm that the benefits which Mrs Howard was currently on entitled her to loft insulation and the installation of a new fully controlled energy efficient oil fired heating system.
On receiving the Landlords permission to undertake the necessary works, on the 10 May a heating install team from the Scheme Managers, H&A Mechanical Services, arrived to install the necessary measures.
Mrs Howard said “they called in the morning and left with the job complete that very same evening, everything was left perfect and now I have a new oil fired heating system which is so easy to manage” On the scheme managers calling back to the dwelling to ensure everything was in order Mrs Howard said “I would recommend this scheme to everyone, my home is nice and warm with lots of hot water and now when I take a bath I can take my hot towels off the radiators”
As part of the Warm Homes service a benefit entitlement check identified that Mrs Howard was missing out on Pension Credit, our Benefits Adviser Jamie Mackrell had identified that she was entitled to an additional £62.25 per week.
All in all a fantastic outcome for Mrs Howard and her family.
