Norman Watson recently benefited from a new heating system and insulation work as part of the new Warm Homes Scheme.
The scheme, which is delivered by Bryson Charitable Group in the Lurgan area is funded by the Department for Social Development and plays a major role in the Department’s strategy to combat Fuel Poverty in Northern Ireland. The scheme is targeted at homeowners and private tenants who are on a specified qualifying benefit, and provides assistance for heating and insulation.
Mr Watson from Lurgan, who is in receipt of qualifying benefits and owns his home, was eligible to receive a new heating system and insulation work, which was carried out free of charge under the scheme.
Mr Watson was delighted with the results, “The insulation and heating system have made a huge difference in the warmth of my home. I used to have to use an electric blanket and haven’t used it at all since the heating and insulation was put in. The energy advice I was given has helped reduce my heating and electricity bills. I would definitely recommend the scheme to anyone who qualifies.”
Laura Campbell, Referrals Officer with Bryson Charitable Group said, “The scheme provides a host of insulation and heating measures to eligible home owners and private rented tenants who are in receipt of a qualifying benefit. We can also offer households a free benefit entitlement check to make sure you are getting all the help you can, plus free energy advice to help you save money.”
Ms Campbell added, “We would encourage anyone who would like further information in the area about the Warm Homes Scheme to call the contact number - 0800 988 0559.”
