The homes of Mrs McMullan from Downpatrick, was recently made 43% more energy efficient by replacing its Petroleum Gas system with a new oil central heating system installed through the Warm Homes Scheme.
The scheme, which is funded by the Department for Social Development, administered by the Housing Executive and delivered by Bryson Charitable Group in the Downpatrick area, plays a major role in the Department’s strategy to combat Fuel Poverty in Northern Ireland. The scheme is targeted at homeowners and private tenants who are on a specified qualifying benefit, and provides a host of insulation and heating measures.
Delighted with her new heating system, Ms McMullan commended the work which was carried out by one of Bryson’s Contractors, “I was very impressed by the high standard of work and the professionalism of the workmen. The heating system has made a huge difference to the warmth of my home and I would recommend the Scheme to anyone who is eligible.”
Louise Magee, Referrals Manager with Bryson Charitable Group said, “The scheme provides a host of insulation and heating measures to eligible home owners and private rented tenants who are in receipt of a qualifying benefit. We can also offer free benefit entitlement checks to households, to make sure they are getting all they are entitled to, plus free energy advice to help them save money.”
Ms Magee added, “We would encourage anyone who would like further information in the area about the Warm Homes Scheme to call the contact number - 0800 988 0559 or visit www.warm-homes.com”
